FILM EXTRAS

Saffron Screen is committed to using films to entertain and to make the cinema a place for all the community. To this end we host discussion events and question and answer sessions with directors, film-makers, producers, actors and many others on a regular basis.   We also try to work with community organisations such as bands and choirs to entertain the audience before a screening.   We host film appreciation courses and a film discussion club and are planning film making courses and other events.   Please explore this page to find out more about what we are planning and what we have done in the past.

FILM COURSES
    
Film Appreciation Courses

We aim to increase the enjoyment of watching films through various courses to suit different people, working with various organisations and tutors.

We offer:

• Short general courses aimed at interested film lovers who want to learn more about how best to appreciate films.   These courses look at various aspects of film.

• Accredited courses in association with the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education.

DISCUSSION EVENTS

Film Discussion

In addition to speaker events, we hold regular hosted film discussions which you are welcome to stay for after the film. You do not have to participate but all contributions are welcome. Over time these have been about adaptations of films from books, hosted by local volunteers, and about films generally, currently moderated and guided by local film academic David Thomas.

SPECIAL EVENTS

We are always looking to work with the local community, perhaps with a performance before a screening, or to make attending a film a more sociable event.

Film Notes

We offer free film notes for every Monday night screening (unless there is a guest speaker).
