About Us

Saffron Screen is an independent community cinema serving Saffron Walden and its surrounding area which opened in 2006.  We are based in Saffron Walden County High School and are open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, with additional screenings in the school holidays, showing a range of mainstream, independent, art-house and children’s films.  We show films in a comfortable new 202 seat auditorium with a widescreen and full surround sound, and offer refreshments and free parking. 

Saffron Screen is the trading name of Saffron Walden Community Cinema Ltd, a registered charity (no 1113259) and non-profit making company which has been formed to run the cinema in Saffron Walden at Saffron Walden County High School.   The members and the board are drawn from local volunteers, Saffron Walden County High School, Uttlesford District Council and Saffron Walden Arts Trust.

Our charitable aims are the provision of a cinema and education, both within the school and for the public in general, and our profits will all be applied towards those aims.
