Education and Speaker Events
Saffron Screen is committed to using film to entertain and educate, as well as making the cinema a place for all the community. To this end, we host discussion events and question & answer sessions with directors, film-makers, producers, actors and many others on a regular basis.  From time to time we schedule film appreciation courses, film-making courses and other educational events such as our 90-second film competition and the Young People's Film Festival.

HOSTED DISCUSSIONS

Hosted film discussions are usually held once a month immediately following certain screenings.  You do not have to participate but all contributions and views are welcome.  These sessions are about the film generally and are moderated and guided by local Open University film academic, David Thomas.  Hosted discussions are clearly marked next to specific screenings in the Full Diary.  Upcoming hosted discussions are:

THE DEEP BLUE SEA (12A) Sunday 15th January following the 8pm screening

TALKS

We invite people involved in all aspects of film to come to Saffron Screen and answer questions.  Directors, producers, film-makers, actors and others.  Invited speaker events are marked next to specific screenings in the Full Diary.  Upcoming speakers will be:

COURSES

We aim to increase the enjoyment of watching films through various courses to suit different people, working with various organisations and tutors.  We plan to offer film appreciation courses and film-making courses in the near future.  If you would like to be informed when we are planning future courses, please email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. COMMUNITY SCREENINGS

We are always looking to work with the local community, perhaps with a performance before a screening to make attending a film a more sociable event.  About twice a year we work with local charities and community organisations to stage special fundraising or information events. If you want to make enquiries or suggestions about a community or fundraising screening, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Please note that there is great interest in fundraising screenings and therefore, we have set up a waiting list.
