Chicken Little  U

SCREENINGS

3pm  Saturday 20 May 2006

3pm  Sunday 21 May 2006

When a young chicken mistakes a falling acorn for a piece of the sky, he causes mass panic but is ultimately left humiliated.   Eager to revive his ruined reputation Chicken Little starts to see things go his way - but then a real piece of the sky lands on his head!

BBFC advice:  Contains mild scary scenes and violence

"A successful collaboration with Pixar has so far allowed Disney responsibility for the release of some of the most memorable computer animated feature films to date, including Toy Story, The Incredibles and A Bug's Life.  But when Cars is released in June of this year, Pixar will be leaving the House of Mouse and searching for a new distribution partner elsewhere. It's up to Chicken Little, Disney's first attempt at a fully computer generated animation feature film, to convince audiences that Disney has what it takes to go it alone.

And fortunately the film doesn't disappoint, serving up the right mix of comedy and heart-warming drama in those measures Disney so perfected in their heyday. Kids will laugh hysterically at Chicken Little's haphazard approach to things and parents will find plenty to keep them entertained, from the lovability of the little Chicken himself through Steve Zahn's delightful Runt of The Litter, a pig with an unhealthy obsession for Barbra Streisand...

Chicken Little is not quite as grown up, though, as The Incredibles and it's definitely a film for the youngest members of the household. It might not quite find the appeal of the over tens and may suffer a little because of it, but Chicken Little is ultimately a rather sweet and endearing animation. Not quite the animated masterpiece one would expect of Disney of old, but nonetheless a step in the right direction; Disney's second golden age may well be ahead."
Joe Utichi, Film Focus

"Beyond a cheeky, twisty bit of genre-tinkering, there's more here for the under-tens than over, but it's still charming, amusing and energetic enough to win you over."
